I am a single mother of two girls who are now eighteen and fifteen years old. I qualified as a social worker in July 2014, prior to which I spent time as a church youth worker and teaching assistant. Since qualifying I have worked within children and families social work.
I am currently a senior social worker in the Young People’s Service at Southampton City Council where I work with teenagers at risk of and experiencing criminal and sexual exploitation and support teenagers to remain living within their family and friends networks.
My passion is to promote the safety and well-being of teenagers within their homes and communities.
I am a mother to a 7-year-old boy. I am a social worker by background, and I am currently working as a mental health practitioner in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
I have both personal and professional experience with children, and I have been working with children (0–18 years old) and their families for over 5 years.
Having experienced growing up in the UK as a teenage immigrant and have see the conflicting identities that young people can experience, which can make them vulnerable and impact their sense of self.
